Surprise of the Year
Corvette ZR1
No one else
outside GM has tried the new ZR1, but from its spectacular
specifications and new lap records set at Virginia International
Raceway we are sure it must be the biggest giant killer this year.
Forget the days that GM's small-block V8 making just 40 horsepower per
liter of displacement (that's as recently as 1996), this one produces
almost 200 hp per liter, thanks to turbocharging as well as
high-revving flat-plane crankshaft, among others. While Lamborghini,
Ferrari or McLaren's hypercars need hybrid power to hit over 1000
ponies, the ZR1 is purely ICE yet produces 1064 hp, accompanied with
828 lbft of torque. Top speed is 215 mph !
And don't forget it may easily plug in the electric power of E-Ray
should GM wants to create the ultimate Corvette...
