Q
Do you drive the cars before writing reviews ?
A
Obviously no. If I test drive before writing each report, AutoZine would have been much the same as other online magazines - limited number of reports, limited to the cars sold in local market.

The reports I wrote were based on the findings from different magazines, plus my own technical analysis, background information and opinion. I regularly read 10 or more magazines a month, so integrating them usually result in a more comprehensive view than just an individual magazine.

Q
So, are you admitting you copy information from magazines ?
A
No, definitely not. Any one reading my articles can easily see they are so different from any magazines. As mentioned above, I provide unique background information, technical analysis and opinion. Also unique are my style of writing and interpretation.

Q
How do you get the pictures ?
A
Most pictures are official pictures from car makers. Some others were sent by readers, which I can no longer trace the origins. If any of them belong to you, please tell me.

Permission for using AutoZine's materials

Q
Is it possible to use AutoZine's articles or pictures in my site ? I can give you credit and link to your site.
A
No. I am tired of this kind of requests. If your intention is to enrich your site, please do your own home work rather than taking advantage of other's hard works. AutoZine is intended to be a unique place in the net. I don't want to see every other sites feature my Technical School or reports.

If you really want to provide more information to your readers, link to AutoZine instead of copying the materials into your site. Note that AutoZine, like other sites providing original materials, is protected by copyright.

Q
Can I use AutoZine's articles or pictures for doing my school's project ?
A
This is possible, but you have to get my permission first. I will consider case by case.

Site content

Q
SUV and big MPV are missing from AutoZine, why ?
A
Because these cars are not very interesting to write about. If you are fancy with technologies, styling, performance and handling like us, you won't look at SUV and big MPV. Admittedly, there are some exciting SUV now, such as BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne, but they are still not comparable to proper cars. Moreover, it is AutoZine's policy not to promote the environmental-unfriendly SUV.

Q
New Car reports and spec. lack information such as price, equipment, fuel consumption and insurance group. How can I determine whether to buy a car ?
A
Listen: AutoZine is not a buyer's guide. It is purely for the pleasure of car enthusiasts. If you want to study a car before deciding to buy it, visit Edmunds or Whatcar instead. AutoZine can only provide views in technical side and how the car drives from keen driver's view point, not consumer's view point.

Q
Some reports of Japanese cars are quite brief. Why ?
A
If the car is exclusively sold in Japan, not even exporting to Hong Kong, I can hardly obtain test reports about them. We can buy Japanese magazines here, but unfortunately I cannot read Japanese. A few western journalists like Peter Lyon and Peter Nunn write about Japanese cars there, but frankly, their reports suck !

Q
Do you update Technical School anymore ?
A
Since the rebirth in April 2001, the Technical School has been running at low gear. Major exploration of new topics is unlikely at the moment, because I can hardly afford the time. It's really a hard work !
